Welcome Message

It is a great pleasure for us to welcome you all to QS in Conversation at Jaipur! This is an extraordinary opportunity that QS is joining hands with the world’s largest fully residential university for women, Banasthali University, India, to organise a seminar on, “Women’s Higher Education for Leadership and Social Innovation”. Having defined the women’s education and redefined Indian women for decades Banasthali is conscious of the huge challenge ahead due to under-representation of women in leadership positions. We strongly believe that if thought leaders from across the globe apply their minds together a new paradigm for new generation gender specific education would emerge to address this issue.

Banasthali embarked upon its journey way back in 1935 when the concept of education for girl child virtually did not exist. It was a big social innovation then to open this door. It worked even harder to retain them in education eventually leading them to professional degrees in new emerging areas. Today Banasthali stands as the premier university for women spread over its 850-acre sprawling campus amidst beautiful rural setting just south of the mega town Jaipur offering a number of programmes spread over a vast variety of disciplines from nursery up to doctoral level and having its distinct educational ideology to nurture enlightened citizens with strong value-base.

The glorious journey of Banasthali Vidyapith over the last eight decades has been full of innovations in women’s women. The institution is known world over for its dedication to this noble cause. Because of its commitment to, and experience in nurturing women leaders in all walks of life, Banasthali Vidyapith is well positioned to host this academic congregation. We, at Banasthali Vidyapith, believe that education is harbinger of transformation for self, the society, the nation and the world at large.

Theme of the current seminar focuses on the role of higher education in inculcating leadership skills and bringing about social innovation, a topic which is the essence of the existence and spirit of Banasthali Vidyapith. By attracting thought leaders, educationists and policy-makers working on empowering women through education, the synchronic seminar intends to provide a platform for sharing new ideas and experiences which will be instrumental in promoting women leadership through higher education. In addition, this academic event will provide its participants an opportunity to discuss and present best practices of programmes which are meant to develop women’s abilities and self- confidence. Further, the seminar also underlies the dire need of conceptualizing women’s higher education that enables them to come out of all social confinements by breaking glass ceilings where they can realise their potentials and celebrate their accomplishments.

The prevalent culture at Banasthali is to think innovatively and act constructively which makes it a very forward looking Universities. QS in Conversation at Jaipur is meant to bring Banasthali University much closer to diverse global colleagues who share great passion for gender specific educational for social transformation. It will indeed allow the participants to discuss and promote diverse ideas on women’s education which may play a pivotal role in shaping future women leaders. We hope that the seminar will be intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching.

The Banasthali family would like to whole-heartedly invite you and is keenly looking forward to welcome one and all at Jaipur in anticipation of your active participation and contribution in this seminar to make it a memorable event.
